Comedy Central's Stephen Colbert is outraged by President Obama's Nobel Peace Prize. "That's like giving an employee a gold watch for completing his W-2."

well, he hasn't been doing anything worthwhile towards peace.. so i have to agree..

Nobel prize & gold watch...hmmm, I think rather have the watch. You can at least pawn it, but likely no peace with what's coming over the horizon. Hate to say most stop in awe of the articulate words spoken, but they don't notice the donkey poo pouring out both ends!

People in the United States are crazy!!!
This problem that we're in took Bush 8 years to create. Persident Obama can't fix it in 10 months. Plus the entire Whit House is fighting like a bunch of kids. This is our country and our mess. We have to work together to fix it. I didn't want to believe it but if Obama was white, i wonder would he get prosecuted like this. I love America, but you people with such harsh feelings make me sick to my stomach. I didn't hear any of this stuff when George Bush Jr. Lied to us everyday, everyday, everyday, everyday. it's SICK!!!!!!!!

Colbert is such a jerk, he`s about as funny as a kick in the groin, I don`t know why Comedy Central even keeps him on the air, what an ass----,

Most Americans (50%) with any common sense knows the main agenda behind this prize is to try to influence our President with their elitist European socialist ideas, weaken our national soverginity, weaken our national defense, reduce our domestic freedoms, and rid America of our Founding Fathers values and principles.
I am not surprised by this award. When Al Gore recieved it the creditability went down the crapper. It is a shame there are people out there deserving of such a reward and will never get because they are not socialist, marxist or liberal enough.
Give it about two more years and people will decide that the cosmopolitan PBHO cannot put the bacon on the table for just going on an international apology campaign for US behavior.
Where he takes America, God help us all. Colbert and SNL, both moderate/liberal enities were right on target with this PBHO do-nothing comedic comments.

The Nobel Peace Prize has just been completely discredited.

Civilized Citizen.. Bush didn't create the problems, Congress did. Wake up and smell the coffee. BO has done nothing good and won't. It's all about taking control of everything including our freedoms.
#8 Posted by: OldHerm | Oct 15, 2009 9:42 AM
Thank you OldHerm! I was going to correct him but you got it first.
Other than the fact that Civilized Citizen is misinformed, his comment also has nothing to do with the subject at hand... the Nobel Peace Prize!
The final submission for candidates was in late February of this year and Obama had only been in office for a few weeks. First off, why was he even considered then? Secondly, what has he done since February to be deserving of this award? I guess now we just give this thing away in hopes he comes through on his promises instead of giving it to those who have ACTUALLY made a difference already...

You do know that Colbert is parody, right?

Civilized Person, have you been living under a rock? Where were you when Bush was abused by the media every day, starting before his election and STILL going on? And this "lied to us every day" line, umm.. no. When Obama says "this will FIX health care", that's a lie, because he knows it's not true, his own budget office showed the figures showing how his system falls apart. When Bush said Iraq had chemical weapons, the Intel consensus was yes, they did.
Even the Iraqis thought so, Republican Guard commanders were expecting chemical weapons to be fired at the US forces advancing on Bagdad, and were surprised when it didn't happen.
Red on Red Deception.
Get a clue: Have you wondered why it is that there are two holdovers from the Bush administration in the Obama administration- and those two are the most essential, Gates at Defense and Bernanke at the banks. Golly, Defense, Banking... you'd wonder, maybe Obama realizes he can monkey around with all the rest but he can't come up with better people than Bush to manage our two most serious crises?
Let's face it- actually solving serious problems, as Obama put it... "That's above my Pay Grade". He really does do nothing but blabber and waste money and reward corrupt cronies, and the comedians, whether you think they are funny or not (I don't) are catching on. The rest of us will, eventually.

And the award itself, let's face it, it's always been a little bit of a farce.
EVERY other Nobel award, you actually have to have an achievement. You can't say, "I dream one day, we'll solve the most difficult mathematical problems of all time" and expect to get a Mathematics Nobel. Nope. They want to see your proofs worked out to the last calculation. But Peace Prize winners don't actually produce peace, do they?
By all rights, the peace prize this year should go to the Sri Lankan military, who actually MADE PEACE in Sri Lanka. They didn't talk about it, or dream it, or "improve the diplomatic atmosphere" they DID IT. The Tamil war is over, thanks to them.
Much as I love my country, I have to be realistic- we haven't actually won a war and created a peace the way they did, they deserve it. May we look to their example, and create peace in Afghanistan the same way.

You realize that Colbert's political points are the exact opposite of what he believes in? If you don't, than you're sure enough a dooshbag. He is, in fact, a said democrat and says these things just to make the right-wingers look retarded. How it can be considered that he's actually outraged is just a plain lie.
#13 Posted by: Duke_13 | Oct 15, 2009 2:02 PM
Deep down inside, ALL Americans know that this award being given to Obama is COMPLETELY unfounded. Those who say otherwise are likely a part of the new suddenly politically motivated group of people who's wardrobe consists of nothing but "Yes We Can" T-shirts and ballcaps. I can't remember that genre of citizens being so interested in politics in the past.........

Oh my. It really puzzles me that racists are coming up with all sorts of reasons to disrespect our President. As in independent there are policies in each administration that i dislike but because the Prez wants to do things from a liberal standpoint and not a moderate or republican standpoint, the racists are coming out of the woodwork to raise cain. Those ludacris comments about the Nobel Peace Prize trying to persuade the Prez towards a speecific agenda puzzles me. The Prez is in charge of the greatest power on earth. Instead of jumping to conclusions (lying)and using our powerful forces, he would rather peacefully resolve conflicts... something our previous Prez should have considered. This doesn't makes us weaker, it makes us stronger and allow more countries to assist if necessary. I would rather racists speak up and say they are racists instead of trying to hide it. I still see you.

Yet I bet you found him hysterically funny when he was ragging on Bush, didn't you? Liberal hypocrite.

Got an email today and Barrack also won the Country Music Entertainer Of The Year Award and was "Humbled" but had to leave for his Hieseman Trophy interview!
Now seriously I think the Nobel Prize scenereo lost most of its credibility about the era of the Al Gore "Global Warming Hoax" so I am expecting a call from them at any time!
#19 Posted by: Cliff Woods | Oct 15, 2009 3:40 PM
Amazing. Just amazing. Colbert does what Colbert does. He mocks the folks on the right because they'll fall for everything.
And so many people apparently fell for it.
Watch the show a few times and you'll realize that he's poking fun at right-wing blowhards by pretending to be one.
Like 99% of his viewers (and a vast majority of Americans, including a majority of the servicemen and women who serve under his command), he loves President Obama.
It's wake-up time. The 1950s are a thing of the past. Your own children understand what's going on. Ask them. They can teach you something.

Why is this on military.com? Is this not being disrespectful to The Commander in Chief? I always thought that military.com was not political. I guess I was wrong.

There was another comedian who said, that in 10 months President Obama received the Nobel Peace prize,,, in 8 years former president Bush receive 2 shoes thrown at him,, now that's comedy
#22 Posted by: jsmooth35 | Oct 15, 2009 3:56 PM
There is no race question here. Bush had hitler signs about him too by the left, same crap just another face. As for the problem with the Nobel prize he did not do anything yet just anounce ideas. Al Gore got it for makeing a movie when a woman was nominated for saving lives against the nazis and when caught she had all her limbs broken and tortured. The Nobel committee is losing alot of credibility fast. Bill clinton has helped millions with his foundation and was not nominated. This is just a slam on the Bush administration plain and simple. I think he is one of if not our weakest president ever so I am not a fan of Bush, but this Nobel prize is just a joke. What next saint hood for what he might do someday?
#23 Posted by: al | Oct 15, 2009 4:31 PM
so how many idiots still think it was only bush and 8 years that got us into this mess? I think this is a direct result of the warning labels on products that are keeping these idiots alive.
