Rush Limbaugh Inspires an NFL Labor Revolution

Rush Limbaugh wants to buy the St. Louis Rams and the media's going crazy.

Even Al Sharpton's trying to get in on the action by sending a letter urging NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to block Limbaugh's bid.

Let's not lose sight of the real news here. After years of ineffective guidance from former Oakland Raider Gene Upshaw, the NFL Players Association may have actually found some leadership from new director DeMaurice Smith. ESPN reports that Smith took a shot a Limbaugh this weekend in an email to the union's executive committee, a missive that courts the kind of controversy that Goodell wants banned from the NFL:

"I've spoken to the Commissioner and I understand that this ownership consideration is in the early stages. But sport in America is at its best when it unifies, gives all of us reason to cheer, and when it transcends. Our sport does exactly that when it overcomes division and rejects discrimination and hatred."

If Smith and the NFLPA are willing to court the wrath of Limbaugh, their next round of contract talks with NFL owners might involve actual negotiation instead of continuing Upshaw's practice of signing whatever agreement that Goodell put in front of him.

Rush is ONE member of a group, not a signle individual interested in buying the Rams
Sharpton and Jackson are exstorsionist and get paid whether they win or loose a lawsuit aganst a company.
I believe Rush has earned his mo9 ney honestly.

Typical facist left. Sharpton and Jackson! Why does anyone listen to them. Rush speaks the truth and blacks dont want to hear about there cultural failures. This move is like anything coming from the left these days. Its all about taking away your freedoms and replacing with controle mechanisms aka government.

not so sharpton and jessie jerkson are small little knats. if you stile rush you stile huge audience it we hit you like a ton of bricks. so it comes down to this this:
sharpton and his two listeners or rush and his 20 million listeners. i'd tell the liberal sports media to jump off the cliff

If Rush is allowed a team he will lose support of his players, who will gladly underperform to be traded. Conservatives aren't the only ones buying jerseys and supporting the NFL. Anyone that accused me a being in a gang or appearing to be in one I wouldn't want as a owner. This racist, bigot doesn't deserve a team.

Rush is too controversial to be an NFL team owner.

I have listened to Rush daily for 20-years and he is not a racist unless Bill Cosby is because he has never said anything Bill hasn't said...his screener is black and Rush is a national treasure and great American who would add tremendously to the NFL

grrr30.......WTF do cultural failures have to do with Rush being part owner of an NFL franchise?! *shakes head*

I've listened to Rush AND many others over the last 19 years.

I have NEVER heard Rush make any racist comments, ever.

Please remember that Rush was criticizing the MEDIA for their biased treatment of McNab - he was not criticizing Mcnab.

I've heard people (who don't listen to Rush) accuse Rush of racism for 19 years and I've actively listened for racism in Rush's comments and haven't heard any racism. I have heard Rush speak frequently against racism.

I hate racism. It's one of my hot buttons.

Criticize Rush for real faults, not for racism.

martialarts...... Blacks are the ones throwing a fit about rush because he points out there cultural failures. That is why they want to bar him from the league. Thats why its relevant to this conversation.

What makes Rush not qualified to own or be a part ower of a NFL team? Look at some of the current owners. My personal opinion is Rush is as qualified to be an NFL owner as the others with one exception, that specific groups and individual do not agree with that he has a venue to state his opinions on several political hot subjects that have been controversial. All you left wingers "Get over it".

The only place Rush Limbaugh is controversial is among left-wing wackos. He is clearly not racist in spite of lies told about him by the political left. There's not a reason in the world why Rush Limbaugh should not be allowed to own an NFL team.

This situation is a complete joke. Rush is not a racist. He's one of the largest biggot America can have. I can deal with a person when they speak the truth on both liberal and conservative viewpoints and be honest. I never heard Rush speak about Bush's failures while in office. He always attacked the liberal viewpoint.

True Rush has the option of being a NFL team owner. I doubt players will be willing to play for an owner with his reputation "black or white". He carries a lot of bad baggage. If Rush was a fair and impartial type commentator, I could deal with his comments if they were honest and clear across the board. However, that is not the case with him. I DON'T THINK HE WOULD MAKE A GOOD TEAM OWNER. "grr30" - something is wrong with you!!!!!! Your comments are just as one sided as a tick on a dogs D _ _ K!

Al Sharpton is majority owner of Indianapolis Colts! 'Nuff Said!

Sharpton is a homo.

Grr30

Are the white sheets in your home dual purpose!? I can't believe your comments....wait minute!? Yes I can, you're hiding behing a computer screen!

Who the .....is Al sharpton? what has he ever acomplished ? .. I for one am tired of fighting for the freedoms that the liberals then want to denie to conservatives...We the Conservatives make up the majority of the Warriors in this great country...it is time we take back our Country....

If the NFL has murderer's, dog fighters, and other crimminal types as players, then who are they to say who can buy a team?
If Rush has the funds, his money is just as good as M. Vick's, if he wanted to buy a team. This is America and we all have the right to buy anything we have the money for. Al Sharpton is just the same only black; but that's okay in the NFL.

In their pocket!

I can't wait for Rush to buy the NFL team with all the slander lawsuit money he can win. Now THAT would be funny.

dw, might does not make right. What you suggest is treason

Kojak, you have got to be kidding. Limbaugh criticized Bush on domestic policy continually. If you listened to him regularly, there's not a chance you'd have missed it. He was all over him constantly.
However, unlike most, he never criticized Bush's unwaivering military support, despite the cost.
Also, who isn't a bigot in our politics today. Heck, I'm a bigot in many areas. Being a bigot simply means that you are unwaivering in your opinions and that you refuse to accept alternative view points. Bigotry is not necessarily a bad thing, especially when your view points are the only ones that make sense or produce results.

It seems quite obvious to me that the majority of comments posted on this subject are coming from the same narrow minded redneck racist that spew hate and discontent at the so-called tea parties and townhall meeting. As for Rush Limbaugh, once a bigot always a bigot and racist. One final point on this matter, we blacks didn't capture whites from there homeland and bring them here to build America for only the White man's enjoyment.

It's strange to me that liberals hide behind the name calling. They engage in the personnel destruction of people's reputations. They claim to be loving & tolerant towards those who are different. In reality, they are hateful to people who have opinions different than theirs. They don't believe in freedom of speech.Freedom to be who you want to be is no longer allowed by these liberals. they have lowered the bar .They will now be held to the standards of this new low. They are truly anti American. They walk on the wrong side of what is truely American.
